Priscilla w. wachira

Priscilla Wachira is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor (Associate) in the state of Texas.    She holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish/Behavior Analysis from the University of North Texas and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health from Texas Woman's University.

Priscilla is passionate about community engagement and outreach efforts that focus on empowering young adults across various  cultures pertaining to their physical and mental health. Most importantly, highlighting how both play a role in their overall well-being.

Her research interests include but are not limited to:

  • Health Equity as it relates to women's health.
  • Exploring barriers that affect emotional expression among different cultures.   Mental Health stigma within the immigrant community.
  • Cultural stigmas regarding shame, guilt, and vulnerability specifically.
  • Understanding the measure of authenticity, courage, hope, and resiliency from various cultural views.

Priscilla is a firm believer that people begin to heal the moment they feel heard!  This healing is the result of a safe environment (space) that is created with the intention of providing emotional healing and connection instead of judgment or shame.

In sum, Priscilla is confident of this:  When we tell our stories, we rid shame of its badge of dishonor over our lives! So, don't be afraid, your story is your weapon!  When she is not writing in her favorite dimly lit office full of candy and snacks, Reese's to be exact, Priscilla enjoys spending time with her family at their ranch in Texas.

In addition to traveling, exploring new cultures, catching up with friends over sushi, and a little retail therapy every now & then!
